nuking githubs

github.com/phonegap
github.com/callback
github.com/cordova

ugh

I think we agreed to remove callback and cordova in favor of apache
mirrors. I'm supportive of that idea. Think we should keep some of
github.com/phonegap around for now.

Thoughts, problems, concerns?

I'd like both phonegap/weinre and callback/callback-weinre to be nullified
(replace master with a README that has a pointer to Apache) rather than
deleted.

Unfortunately, there are links to weinre all over the place.

ok, lets be a little more concrete. I would like to propose we keep
some github.com/phonegap repos and delete many others:

### keep
phonegap ................... and put descriptive README in here w/
links to Apache Cordova
phonegap-plugins
phonegap-start
phonegap-symbian.wrt

### delete
weinre
phonegap-bada
phonegap
phonegap-qt
mobile-spec
phonegap-docs
phonegap-mac
phonegap-wp7
phonegap-webos
phonegap-blackberry-webworks
phonegap-iphone
phonegap-android

Please don't delete the orgs or repos. I'd be in favor of "nullifying" the
master branches of the relevant projects. Create a new branch/tag called
old-master pointing to the last things. Then check out master, delete
everything, commit, push.

Guess we'd actually have a README explaining what people would be seeing.

I should probably just nuke----the stuff there and maybe drop in a
readme that points to the github/apache mirrors. I would imagine infra
doesn't want to inherit more github ceremony.

Hi,

[Picking up the ancient thread since I was asked about this.]

This still exists with the apache-board-reports and
community-dashboard repositories in it. The latter hasn't been updated
in a year and the former is mostly used just by Brian.

Should we migrate them to Apache infra or just keep them on Github as
personal repositories? Either should be fine as we maintain no
released code in those repositories.

going to look at github.com/callback next ... it seems we still have

As long as we don't accidentally nuke phonegap/phonegap-plugins then
I'm happy to see the rest go away.

Yes, opening an INFRA ticket is the best way to get things rolling.

> Jukka: how does one become a member of the infra team?

The basic intro is at http://www.apache.org/dev/infra-volunteer.html.
Apache committers can also take a look around
https://svn.apache.org/repos/infra/infrastructure/trunk/ and
https://git-wip-us.apache.org/repos/infra to see what kind of stuff
the infra team is working on.

To help out with git-wip-us tasks, a volunteer should preferably be
familiar with Python and/or Perl scripting, have at least basic Unix
admin experience and understand how to keep systems secure. As the
upstream source of software that runs pretty much everywhere, the
security and integrity of ASF source repositories is essential. That's
also why new infra volunteers normally start with little extra access
rights and only gain more karma as they earn the respect and trust of
the rest of the team.

That said, I'd be eager to help new volunteers get up to speed on the
git-wip-us setup, as we could really use some extra helping hands
there.

So, is the correct Apache Way to open a couple of tickets in infra
JIRA to create new repos? We have resources avail to help w/ this.

I like this idea, but I don't think the JS and the "common/tooling" stuff
should exist in the same directory. The JS should be its own repo in my
mind. The tooling/common repo should also exist - on its own.

Why isn't this in an apache git repo already? I'm guessing we need a new
repo, right? I think a new repo is appropriate for this, though I'd be
tempted to call it "cordova-common" as opposed to "cordova-js". In theory,
that's were we can put other common things there, like "tooling".

I have 1.4.0 stored on github.com/callback/phonegap. The release needs a
temp home until we get official apache releases. Also, I am going to
update github.com/phonegap to point to apache servers.

When will the pull-requests-to-github.com/apache-emails-dev-list feature
work again? Apparently its broken. This is key in my mind.
