   I'm saying the example is not impossible, and internally consistent, so not wrong. But what it's illustrating doesn't seem to be the common important case here, which is handling of data whose arrival is delayed. It's also showing producer/consumers that are way out of sync. That's not impossible but pretty niche? the text doesn't address this as part of the setup, which makes me think it was not the intent.
