[D] Use of EC2 api of CloudStack [cloudstack]
GitHub user akrasnov-drv created a discussion: Use of EC2 api of CloudStack
Hi,
I see that there is config option to enable EC2 api. Unfortunately documentation says almost nothing about it.
Please advise, how to use it from aws cli.
If you could help to use it from Jenkins with ec2 or even with Eucalyptus plugin would be just great.
So far I tried
```
AWS_ENDPOINT_URL=http://cs-mgmt:8080/client/api
and
AWS_ENDPOINT_URL=http://cs-mgmt:8080/client/
```
with admin api/secret keys and got just
```
aws ec2 describe-instances
An error occurred (AuthFailure) when calling the DescribeInstances operation: AWS was not able to validate the provided access credentials
```
Thanks in advance.

Just found https://docs.cloudstack.apache.org/en/latest/installguide/optional_installation.html
and according to it
```
Supported API Version[](https://docs.cloudstack.apache.org/en/latest/installguide/optional_installation.html#supported-api-version)
The EC2 interface complies with Amazon’s WDSL version dated November 15, 2010, available at http://ec2.amazonaws.com/doc/2010-11-15/.
The interface is compatible with the EC2 command-line tools EC2 tools v. 1.3.6230, which can be downloaded at http://s3.amazonaws.com/ec2-downloads/ec2-api-tools-1.3-62308.zip.
```
Then I'm leaving the idea to use it.

@akrasnov-drv the ec2 api has not been having a maintainer for a decade. You are free to experiment but will be largely on your own. An alternative would be using ansible and terraform. Maybe libcloud, but I am not sure how well maintained that is.

I see. Good to know. Thank you.
But if so, any plans to remove this from the code, or still there is a hope someone takes this?
