[~andywebb1975] - I'm not sure if you're still working on this, but general best practice would be to create the fix against the latest version which is the main branch at https://github.com/apache/solr and then we can look into back porting to a future 8.11.x release (probably 3+, since I'm hopeful 8.11.2 is just around the corner)
