   @jbalchan Upgrading to Groovy 4 requires much more work and alignment of other dependencies, so this pull request is not suitable as it stands. It is very important to understand the relationship with other dependencies that making changes that have a large scale impact on the project.
   
   The page [Managing Project Dependencies](https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/NIFI/Managing+Project+Dependencies) provides general guidelines.
   
   For now, I am closing this pull request, it could be addressed in the context of potential upgrade to Groovy 4.
