moved the branch (for new oids) back to trunk

For anyone interested, I've moved the branch I was working on (ISIS-214)
back to trunk.

The CI build last night caused a few test failures (it was green on my
local workspace), so I'll try to address these.

What I still want to do is to write some contract tests for the objectstore
API (I think we have a JIRA ticket for that somewhere) to get some more
confidence that this refactoring has not introduced any regressions (cos: I
suspect it probably has). I'll tack away at that too, but now in trunk
rather than in a branch.

I would suggest adding it to the "Assignments-objstore-dflt", but as
long as it is included in your deployed environment, you should be ok.

Yes, sounds right.

You should be safe with an appropriate naming convention.

e.g. for the above, have an "airports" domain object, with members
"createdAt", etc (e.g. getCreatedAt, setCreatedAt)

You are going to run into issues if Ruby and Isis are to co-operate.

In Isis, your "worker_id" will become "fk_worker" for a domain object
called "worker".

Re: How do I enable the Scimpi Viewer?

Posted by Dan Haywood <da...@haywood-associates.co.uk>.
ah. oh. Well, that's not much good to you, is it!

If you want to try to get started by yourself, then, you could pull down
the source of one of the examples, specifically:
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/isis/trunk/examples/claims/viewer-scimpi/

Otherwise, as I say, I'll try to get you some more complete instructions
later.

Hi Jason,

With the 0.2.0-incubating version of the archetype, you need to run your app using the generated xxx-scimpi project. This is a regular WAR app with its own web.xml. You'll need to copy over isis.properties etc files from the xxx-html viewer project (or whatever it is you currently have working).

In the next version of the archetype, I've consolidated all these different WAR projects into a single app; hopefully this will make it easier to switch between the different viewer options.

I haven't got time right now to provide more detail, but if the above doesn't get you started, then let us know here and I'll try to answer more fully in a few hours (ie this evening here in Europe).

Cheers
Dan

How do I enable the Scimpi Viewer? I already have used the archetype to create my Isis project.

You can ignore my SCIMPI request for now.

I'm going to concentrate on adding my domain objects.

Jason

I've been working on a Scimpi archetype, which I have attached. This is
the projects that the archetype is created from so it should just be
usable once it is unzipped. Either launch internal web-server using the
Eclipse launcher in scimpi-viewer or drop the generated Jar into Tomcat.

Rob

Ok, now I have a fairly good baseline using the html viewer.

How do I enable the Scimpi Viewer?

Posted by "Richardson, Jason - FSA, Kansas City, MO" <ja...@kcc.usda.gov>.
I want to enable the SCIMPI viewer on my ISIS app.
Do I just uncomment out this dependency in the main pom, and change the artifact id to match my application name.

            <dependency>
                <groupId>${project.groupId}</groupId>
                <artifactId>quickstart-viewer-scimpi</artifactId>
                <version>${project.version}</version>
            </dependency>

And use this as the artifact id?
<artifactId> Assignments-viewer-scimpi</artifactId>

I see in the main pom that these entries are not commented out.

            <dependency>
                <groupId>${project.groupId}</groupId>
                <artifactId>Assignments-webapp</artifactId>
                <version>1.0-SNAPSHOT</version>
            </dependency>

            <dependency>
                <groupId>${project.groupId}</groupId>
                <artifactId>Assignments-viewer-html</artifactId>
                <version>1.0-SNAPSHOT</version>
            </dependency>

Developing a new Pilot ISIS bases Application (port from a rails app)

Posted by "Richardson, Jason - FSA, Kansas City, MO" <ja...@kcc.usda.gov>.
Quick question, and some background info.

I finally have a project that I think will fit in with ISIS perfectly. An application project was created about a year or so ago using Rails and PostgreSQL as the DB. The developer who built the app, left no documentation and the web-admins actually had to scan the network to find the rails source code that he used. I know nothing about Rails, but I've taken on the task to port it into Java, and I think it will work great with ISIS
I want to get some feedback from the isis users to get some initial questions answered, and in the future, I in turn, can provide some community feedback as the migration from rails to ISIS proceeds.

The existing app only has about 35 users. So its fairly small.

Short term ToDOs:
1. Use the existing rails table schema as a start point for the domain objects (subject to change of course, as the project progresses)
2. Use the domain objects to create the PostgresSQL tables for the new ISIS port.
3. Create some rough functionality for the app, just to get a feel of ISIS and how it works with the DB and the HTML Viewer.

Longer Term ToDos:
1. Work with users for defined use cases (they currently have none)
2. Import the existing data into the new ISIS port Database Tables.
3. Use the Use Cases to develop the actions and interactions for the domain objects.

=========== Current status and questions I have ========

I just ran the new 2.0 archtype and created my project, and I have imported it into Eclipse 3.7
The "projects" I imported are these.

Assignments
Assignments-dom
Assignments-fixture
Assignments-objstore-dflt
Assignments-tests-bdd
Assignments-tests-junit
Assignments-webapp

I am using PostgreSQL 9.1 for the database.

In which project pom do I put in the PostgreSQL driver dependencies (does anyone have an example for Postgresql 9.1?
Which isis.properties file do I setup my Postgresql Datasource in? I assume it's the Assignments-webapp

==================================
==================================
Here is the Rails Schema, but its just a baseline that I'm to use as the starting point for my ISIS Domain Objects.
Again, I'll use ISIS itself to actually create the tables.
