SOLVED mvn -P doesn't use profile

The profiles.xml file needs to be in every directory where there is
output (e.g. war, jar, ear)
Though this does seem a little bit of a waste of time considering that
if you are building with a profile it would apply to ALL projects and
hence IMHO should cascade from a root down.

Or maybe I am missing something
