tags coming out of database

hi,

I have a piece of xml file stored in the oracle database...
when i pull it out, tags (like < and >) are coming in wierd fashion....
how do i do it???

i rememeber that few days ago somebody posted this problem and the reply
was to release a patch for it...i don't know it's out or not??
