Reproducible with  "AOO 4.0.0-Dev – German UI / German locale 
[AOO400m3(Build:9702)  -  Rev. 1502004]" on WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)", Common
4.0-dev User Profile

Not limited to writer, also for Calc and prolly (I did not test) Draw and so
on.

Still worked with 3.4.1, so regression

Related to lost PDF import filter? If yes, I think it should not be too
difficult to fix this without a PDF import filter.

I don't know how much this feature is used, but for me that's one of the 
showstoppers hindering me to use AOO for my daily work in future.
