Apache processes status
Here is an attempt to summarise all the non-technical strands going on
at the moment.
The bootstrap process is described
http://incubator.apache.org/guides/mentor.html#bootstrap
== new web site
Could someone volunteer to own&investigate this?
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JENA-1
== svn
Committer access: I haven't heard anything.
Ross -
Are we in a starvation deadlock here on the missing iCLA from Jeremy?
== CLAs
ICLAs:
Jeremy - you are not listed at
http://people.apache.org/committer-index.html#unlistedclas
Everyone else is now listed as unlisted CLAs section.
CCLA: Talis done. Others ToDo.
== Moderators/mailing lists
Done
Migration - see other email thread.
== JIRA
We need another committer as a project owner on the "2 committers"
principle.
JIRA email is going to jena-commits@ even if the reply-to is jena-dev@.
== legal
HP: legal person identified, waiting to get into detailed discussions
Other: no progress (not much point under HP situation is clear).
== Other
Anything else?

What's missing there is how to get things actually set up. I looked at
infra-dev@. Looks like:
1) create directory
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/jena/site/trunk
2) put inside directory some markdown data (stealing from stanbol is
probably fair game :) ), you should
3) file jira (example: INFRA-3181) to get staging CMS turned on
4) make site
5) look at website, iterate until you like it
I may have time to do some of this stuff later this afternoon, since I
sort of get how it works now (may help infra do the docs, too...).

PS: also see http://wiki.apache.org/general/ApacheCms2010 which
provides more background and some examples (or links to).

In addition to the notes in the issue tracker you might want to consider
using the new Apache CMS. Bertrand, who is one of our mentors, wrote a
nice "how to" for Stanbol which can be seen at
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/stanbol/site/trunk/WEBSITE-HOWTO.txt
Having worked with the various other methods available here at the ASF
my recommendation would be to use that. Other systems are either user
friendly but inflexible (e.g. Confluence) or very flexible but user
unfriendly (e.g. Forrest).

Indeed. Separately, we have had to assess the patent situation for Jena
(e.g. ARQ for W3C work).

Actually that's really important.
We don't use the private list for anything other than sensitive things
(like account creation) but anything that does happen there is important.

One that is on the ICLA or that you have confirmed is yours (in your
case the email was fine).
When you get commit rights there is a file where we record this stuff.

I haven't seen any jena-private email either.
I subscribed from my epimorphics email address and did the confirm thing
when EZmlm sent it. I have just tried again, but from my gmail address,
which is the one on the ICLA etc, and replied to the "confirm".
I'm not getting MODERATE messages from any list but things might be a
bit circular if the moderator isn't subscribed.

Minor point but I'm not on the private list as far as I know.
I attempted to subscribe to it at the same time as all the others (12
days ago) but have had back neither an acceptance nor a rejection.
I believe Ian at least is in the same situation.

The big difference between the BSD and the Apache License is the patent
handling.
Please let me know if I can help make this happen.

No problem - I was just checking we weren't in an "A waiting for B
waiting for A" situation. I realise these things can take a while and
there has been a burst of projects.

filters these days, that doesn't mean you didn't send it.

We have discussed this with HP and it was Ok in principle - but until
there was a definite action to be taken, then it's only "in principle".
We now have that definite step to take. I hope it'll be straightforward
as the material in question has been available via a BSD-class license
in an agreed open source project.

Accounts have been requested for those who have registered iCLAs on file.
We have to wait for root@ to create them, this is a human process and
can sometimes take a while - there are various security checks to be
carried out etc.
I've just sent a gentle reminder to infra@ but we have to be patient I'm
