To be consistent with other hadoop apis such as 
http://hadoop.apache.org/docs/stable/hadoop-project-dist/hadoop-hdfs/WebHDFS.html#Open_and_Read_a_File
, I will not be using the parent/ child representation in the rest urls

so {code} v1/connector/ link {code}  will be {code} v1/link{code}
