Hi -

For many podlings the user list can wait until there are users.

That said the PPMC members/Initial Committers should subscribe to all of the mailing lists.

Regards,
Dave

Interesting, I think you’re saying the dev community is also subscribed to users. That certainly sounds sensible.

I would take the stats regarding mailing lists in Whimsy as a guiding line.
More often than not the dev mailing lists is having the higher number of
subscribers. But then again, it also depends on the message to convey.

In general, one could say, the dev list is for the parties interested to
work with the product from a development perspective (and its technical ins
and outs) and thus potential contributors. Those who subscribe to the user
ml tend to be 'just' interested in the product, and could come from all
kinds of professions, like industry observers, influencers, but also
potential adopters in the various business sectors/domains.

Long story short, I would communicate internal stuff (project/product
oriented) to dev, and the more high-level and 'promotional' stuff to user.
And there will always be a trade-off based on the what to communicate.

Best regards,

Pierre Smits

I am going to register a talk now. I didn’t know about SharkTank, where can I read more?

Usually with Apache Buildr, we find that we have different populations on those different lists. Which list should I pick for this type of topic?

Hi Antoine,

That is great news. And I hope I will be able to be there and meet up with
you. Did you register a talk already? Or are you intending to be
participating in the Incubator's SharkTank?

I don't want to be a pain in the proverbial ... , but please consider not
to do any cross-posting to multiple mailing lists of the project.

Best regards,

Pierre Smits
