[GitHub] [iceberg] kbendick opened a new issue #2718: Remove site docs from showing up in IntelliJ search and causing very long index times in IntelliJ

kbendick opened a new issue #2718:
URL: https://github.com/apache/iceberg/issues/2718

In the last dev sync, we discussed pain points around all of the versions of the site docs showing up when searching through the repo.

IIRC, we discussed possibly even moving the `site` docs to their own repo as a last resort.

For me, the biggest pain point is when using IntelliJ and several javadoc files (from various versions) show up.

I found a solution for this in IntelliJ, which also reduces the time to index when changing branches etc quite significantly, which I will push a PR for momentarily, but hoping for clarity around the entirety of the issue.

Can somebody elucidate on where else this is an issue for them or are people mostly experiencing this with IntelliJ? I'm able to get around it when using GitHub search by selecting for `Java` code type, etc.
