We currently "support" bouncycastle version 1.32, which is long out of date.
The latest version is 1.39, whereas the latest maven artifact that is available for all versions of JDK that we support is 1.36. I tested both 1.36 and 1.39 with WSS4J (latest trunk) and both work fine, and hence we should look to upgrade.
Our webpage also has nothing about requiring the user to download the bouncycastle jars separately with the 1.5.4 release...
