[jira] [Commented] (RAVE-90) Support mobile-friendly layouts

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/RAVE-90?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=13235601#comment-13235601 ]

Scott Wilson commented on RAVE-90:
----------------------------------

I notice in Opera Mobile that the Rave menus don't collapse very nicely, and that the "workspace header" is far too large. (This is particularly noticeable when you have an admin user as there are more menu options)

I like the Bootstrap approach to menus that collapses down the menu to a single icon and dropdown - go to http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/ and shrink the window to see what I mean.

The current mobile layout also uses collapsing items for the widgets themselves - this works OK, but you lose a lot of screen to the widget headers - would swiping between widgets (i.e. treat them as a carousel) work better? That would also mean the widgets could scale to the viewport rather than require scrolling.

> Rave portal layouts should perform well on mobile devices as well as tablets and portables. This can be achieved either using progressive enhancement and media queries, or by supplying a range of skins targeted at different device sizes.
