   Is it possible your performance degradation comes from no longer operating in true-fp16 mode?  I went back to your earlier issue and was reminded that you compile with MSHADOW_USE_PASCAL=1.  @piiswrong made the decision that mxnet users going forward would only have pseudo-fp16 mode available.  We discussed having the policy set by an environment variable, but decided that the precision and range issues of true-fp16 were best avoided entirely.  I implemented this with PR https://github.com/apache/incubator-mxnet/pull/7527.  Try building against an mxnet version earlier than Aug. 23rd if you want to explore this explanation to your problems.
