[jira] [Commented] (CASSANDRA-15001) counter not accurate

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CASSANDRA-15001?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=16755226#comment-16755226 ]

Aleksey Yeschenko commented on CASSANDRA-15001:
-----------------------------------------------

That's not something that's ever going to change, I'm afraid, and is not a Cassandra-specific issue. Incrementing a register is not an idempotent operation and is unsafe to retry.

> The issue has been described in CASSANDRA-2495 and said to be improved in the later post. However I still encounter the issue in version 2.2.5. When a write to the counter column fails, a retry operation may result in over-count.
