    Resolution: Fixed

Committed the impl and test code at repo revision r507703.

I made the required security patches by hand, since teh provided patch was way more than required (and a reverse patch) so too difficult to follow.

I had to exclude one unit test to get a clean test run.

Please check that the bulk of the contribution was applied successfully.  Further bugs can be fixed in new JIRAs.
