svnsync: Corrupt representation '25070 6402 4084 74752 314a2abb716f8eb8b532f92e2eda6180'

Hi,

I'm trying to use svnsync for backup purposes. I did the initialization and the initial sync ran for about 5 days, stopped and can no longer be updated. I'm running version: svnsync, version 1.5.4 (r33841). Here is the command and failure:

svnsync synchronize file:///misc_sourcectrl01/svnrepositories/canberra --source-username username --source-password password
svnsync: Corrupt representation '25070 6402 4084 74752 314a2abb716f8eb8b532f92e2eda6180'

Thanks for any help with this, Kevin

See my response to your private email.... you need to be careful using
the rsync solution.

Have you run 'svnadmin verify' yet? If not, that should be your first
order of business. You need to know which repo (local vs. remote) is
broken. Then we can proceed from there.

Thanks for your reply. It seems that 25070 is the revision? I did some poking around in the db dirctory and found that revision. I'll see about running svnadmin verify on this revision or the entire repository if needed. The source repository is in Australia, and I'm synchronizing to Austin, TX so I guess the WAN link could be a little flaky, but I Thought svnsync would deal with issues if there were any? I'm looking at rsync as an alternative to get the backup copy.

Have you run 'svnadmin verify' on the local version of the repo? From
the error message, it's hard to say whether the error is in the remote
repository or not. 'svnadmin verify' will help locate which revision
is broken. If you send me the broken rev (or post it on a server
somewhere if it's large), I'll take a look at it. An alternative
strategy would be to re-mirror the remote repo.

It is a bit strange if the problem is in the local mirror. I'd assume
svnsync is the only thing writing to it. Do you have a flaky
connection to the remote repo?
