[jira] [Created] (NIFI-761) Have provenance end time search be "now"

Aldrin Piri created NIFI-761:
--------------------------------

Summary: Have provenance end time search be "now"
                 Key: NIFI-761
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NIFI-761
             Project: Apache NiFi
          Issue Type: Wish
          Components: Core UI
            Reporter: Aldrin Piri
            Priority: Trivial

Currently the event search within provenance defaults to an end time seemingly for the current user time and not the current system time.

Consider "now" where I am creating this entry at 21:29 EDT, July 11th.

My NiFi instance is set to UTC time and rightly shows a time +4 hours of 01:29 UTC, but this is July 12th. By default I am, in this section of the clock, defaulting to a time less than what is available for events.

The other side to this is that when I am much earlier than 23:59 UTC, I am defaulting to a time period much later than where I am currently at with no possible chance of events. "Now" makes a lot more sense for an end time.

The 24 hour period seems like a reasonable default, however I think it might benefit the user to have it end at "now" when I bring up the provenance event search and go back 24 hours from there.
