[Bug 121891] New: spell checking
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=121891
Bug ID: 121891
Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: spell checking
Classification: Application
Product: Writer
Version: AOO 3.4.1
Hardware: PC
OS: Windows XP
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: formatting
Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
Reporter: sspur38@yahoo.com
CC: issues@openoffice.apache.org
There is an icon that is colored blue with the spell check feature. Next to it
is an icon that is a spell check with a red squiggly line under the 'ABC'. When
I have a regular document and want to spell check it I used to simply click on
the 'blue' ABC spell check icon and the program would highlight only the words
spelled incorrectly. Now when I do the same process I get either of two
results, all the words are underlined with the red squiggly lines or every word
comes up in the window as be spelled incorrectly.
I have no idea what to do about the problem. I am 74-years of age and I am not
a computer wizard, nor am I very coumputer literate. I just do do not know what
to do next to correct this problem. In addition, I find it very difficult to
understand the words that are used in the programing language.
Pleas help.
Thank you so very much for your help.
Sincerely,
Ed Willoughby

--- Comment #1 from Rob Weir <ro...@apache.org> ---
There are many things that can cause spell checking to not work, but the only
known bug that can cause this is 121930, which has a workaround, namely
resetting the profile.
Your best bet is to try the user support forums (http://forum.openoffice.org)
for help.
*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 121930 ***
