[users@httpd] Strange characters with Netscape browser
Hi,
We recently moved our webserver from iPlanet to Apache. We have a problem
in that certain versions of Netscape browser (4.8 and less) on certain
platform exhibit irregular behavior in displaying certain pages with
strange characters. It is very frustrating because we dont see the problem
on Unix or on versions of Netscape > 6.0 or with IE. furthermore, only when
the user floats (i.e. when they open a new window) will the problem occur.
The target file is a jsp file.
The problem is not existant with the iPlanet web server but is with Apache.
the problem occurs most of the time but not all the time.
Where could the problem lie, something with content encoding? what do I do
to solve it? what parameters in Apache httpd.conf file are pertinent to
this problem?
Thanks!
chuck

Define "irregular behavior".

I'd start by comparing the HTTP response headers between iPlanet and
Apache to see if there are differences (particularly in content-type,
content-encoding, etc.
Joshua.
