Heavy memory usage under Tomcat 4.0

I'm running about 15 context for my application. When they run under Tomcat
4.0.1 they take about 250 Mb of memory at startup. The same applicarion
under Tomcat 3.2.3 use about 50 Mb of memory at startup.

Could somebody explain why this happen?
