[VOTE] Airflow Providers, release preparation date 2026-08-06 (expedited, 24h)
Hey all,
I have just cut a new wave of Airflow Providers packages with release
preparation date 2026-08-06. This email is calling a vote on the release,
which will last for 24 hours - which means that it will end on
2026-08-07 16:35 UTC and until 3 binding +1 votes have been received.
Consider this my (binding) +1.
This is an expedited release. It replaces the 2026-08-01 wave, whose vote
I cancelled: that wave was cut with the pandas < 3 cap from
https://github.com/apache/airflow/pull/70791, which has since been reverted
in https://github.com/apache/airflow/pull/71100 and replaced by pandas 3
support in https://github.com/apache/airflow/pull/71103. Because that
touched most of the wave, every provider is re-cut rather than trimmed.
Hence the shorter voting window.
This wave contains 46 providers. There are no breaking changes in any of
them - all bumps are minor or patch level.
Most providers are at rc2, being re-cuts of the cancelled wave. Three are
at rc3, having also been re-cut in 2026-08-01:
- apache-airflow-providers-common-ai 0.7.0rc3
- apache-airflow-providers-google 22.3.0rc3
- apache-airflow-providers-openlineage 2.20.0rc3
One is at rc1, because it is a new version rather than a re-cut:
- apache-airflow-providers-opensearch 1.12.0rc1
Two providers that were in the cancelled wave are not in this one:
- keycloak is held back. Its "Move keycloak JWT tokens to separate
cookies" (#70550) depends on middleware that is still being fixed
(#71077, #70981), and a tester asked for it to be held. It will be
released separately once those land.
- clickhousedb returns to 1.0.0. Its 1.0.1 was never published, so the
change it carried rides a later release instead.
The testing status issue is
https://github.com/apache/airflow/issues/71246 - check marks carried over
from the cancelled wave's issue (#70953) mark code that has not changed,
so please do not re-verify those. Only the unticked items need attention.
Airflow Providers are available at:

*apache_airflow_providers-2026-08-06-source.tar.gz* is the full source
tarball of airflow repo - snapshot taken at the moment of provider's
release.
*apache-airflow-providers-<PROVIDER>-*.tar.gz* are the convenience
python "sdist" distributions that we publish in PyPI
*apache_airflow_providers_<PROVIDER>-*.whl are the convenience Python
"wheel" distributions that we publish in PyPI.
The test procedure for PMC members is described in

Please vote accordingly:
[ ] +1 approve
[ ] +0 no opinion
[ ] -1 disapprove with the reason
Only votes from PMC members are binding, but all members of the community
are encouraged to test the release and vote with "(non-binding)".
Please note that the version number excludes the 'rcX' string.
This will allow us to rename the artifact without modifying
the artifact checksums when we actually release it.

[RESULT][VOTE] Airflow Providers - release preparation date 2026-08-06
Posted by Jarek Potiuk <ja...@potiuk.com>.
Hello,
Apache Airflow Providers prepared on 2026-08-06 have been accepted.
3 "+1" binding votes received:
- Jarek Potiuk (binding)
- Pavankumar Gopidesu (binding)
- Rahul Vats (binding)
Rahul originally voted -1 over the google provider failing to install on
Python 3.14, and changed his vote to +1 (binding) once google was excluded
from the wave and after completing the PMC checks.
Kaxil Naik also gave a +1 for common.ai specifically; it is not counted
above as it was scoped to a single provider rather than the whole wave.
No -1 votes remain.
44 providers are accepted in this wave.
Two providers have been excluded from the release:
- google 22.3.0 - it does not install on Python 3.14. The cause is a
dependency problem in google-cloud-aiplatform's "evaluation" extra,
reported upstream as googleapis/python-aiplatform#7057 and tracked in
https://github.com/apache/airflow/issues/71268. The workaround is
https://github.com/apache/airflow/pull/71273.
- cncf.kubernetes 10.21.0 - the two new concurrent-pod-creation options
declared "version_added: 10.20.0" when they actually ship in 10.21.0,
fixed by https://github.com/apache/airflow/pull/71157.
Both have already been re-cut as google 22.3.0rc4 and
cncf.kubernetes 10.21.0rc3 in the 2026-08-08 wave, which is up for vote
now in a parallel thread.
Vote thread: https://lists.apache.org/thread/5f8cd2llgrxkl5phctqgsmx9pyv33j4m
I'll continue with the release process, and the release announcement will
follow shortly.
Cheers,
Jarek Potiuk

Posted by Rahul Vats <ra...@gmail.com>.
Since Google is excluded from this wave and after completing PMC checks, I
am updating my vote to +1 (binding)
- Reproducible build
- SVN
- in Docker installation
- Checksums
- Licence
- Signature
Regards,
Rahul Vats

Re: [VOTE] Airflow Providers, release preparation date 2026-08-06 (expedited, 24h)
Posted by Jarek Potiuk <ja...@potiuk.com>.
I would love to get use some binding +1s on that one - we have about 1 hour
left.

Re: [VOTE] Airflow Providers, release preparation date 2026-08-06 (expedited, 24h)
Posted by Jarek Potiuk <ja...@potiuk.com>.
This turns out to be be a dependency issue in google-cloud-aiplatform ->
created a better workaround https://github.com/apache/airflow/pull/71273
and connected issue
https://github.com/googleapis/python-aiplatform/issues/7057
I will remove it from the wave. It would be great if we still continue
voting on that one - and possibly even release it tonight (I need 2 +1
binding votes). Assuming I get those, I can start third wave - google only
(which might help Rahul release 3.3.1rc1 finally - with the latest
providers including Google).
