Someone needs to add the spot bugs annotations dependency to the operator tools build, then this issue with the CheckForNull annotation will be resolved. There was a POM change somewhere as cause. 

We don’t want people depending on HBase POMs to transitively provide spot bugs so this isn’t a bug per se. Definitely a valid task for maintaining operator tools, though.
