[jira] [Commented] (CASSANDRA-16782) Improve the way we pick sstables for STCS-in-L0 and in TWCS 'current' window

Aleksei Zotov commented on CASSANDRA-16782:

Hi [~marcuse]

I checked the code and put a few comments to [https://github.com/krummas/cassandra/commit/5736260cc0095b64101ba05d5d7f2cdd9bd7aff9]. Please, let me know your thoughts. I'm apologizing in advance if some comments make no sense to you :)

PS:

I'm trying to follow Benjamin's call seeking for reviewers. Definitely a non-committer review does not let it be merged, but I hope it is still useful.

> The goal when being behind in L0 should always be to get the number of sstables down to a reasonable level as soon as possible. Currently it is common that we run compactions on the large sstables but leave thousands of tiny sstables behind.
