ActiveMQ client and server versions

Hello.

If I'm not wrong, ActiveMQ server is built and runs for JDK 8 until
version 5.16 included, and for JDK 11+ starting with 5.17.

To ensure compatibility of our applications that currently run with an
old Red-Hat Fuse AMQ 5.11, we plan to install new brokers with a
recent version 5.17.x, but can't update the application clients for
now, since all our technical stack still relies on JDK 8. A JDK
upgrade is planned for next year, but will probably be a progressive
work$.

What would be your advice about using a client version 5.16.x for JDK
8 based applications ? Is there any risk of breaking change ?

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

Hello.

Thanks for your answer. I've tested it, and it seems to work.
Indeed I was thinking this could not be a real risk with such a small
gap between versions, but I always prefer to ask experts.

Thanks again.

Regards.

5.16.x is *really* similar to 5.17.x right now. Especially with the clients. You should be fine for a while.
