[jira] Commented: (INFRA-1400) cwiki looses chinese characters, replaced with ????

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-1400?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=12559381#action_12559381 ]

Gavin commented on INFRA-1400:
------------------------------

>From my own testing, and from talking with others, I think the next step is to reconfigure the database. It is not properly configured for UTF-8. It also uses the myisam engine where Atlassian recommend innodb when using the mysql database. This 'can' be done by converting the existing database. However there is talk of a new server, and converting to using postgresql instead, which will bring it in line with Jira.

All of which is not a guarantee that it is a cure for this problem, but local testing my end using the same environment suggest it will work.

> In Tuscany, we are trying to get a Chinese version of our website, where the contents come from a Confluence Wiki. While preparing for that, we noticed that after a given time, usually overnight or so, we loose all the Chinese characters and they become "????". Any ideas on what's going on and how to fix this ? Sample pages at [1] and [2], and a discussion thread on the Tuscany dev-list at [3].
