This still an issue with version 8.0.0, I was able to make it work [with cordova@8.0.1-nightly.2018.6.13.f567c26f|mailto:with%C2%A0cordova@8.0.1-nightly.2018.6.13.f567c26f]
I tried with a private repository using git+ssh
