critical known issue Volume snapshot or VM Snapshot only one snapshot
is working above 4.5 version to till now 4.8
Hi Guys,
we have identified that above cloudstack 4.5 versions VOLUME SNAPSHOT or VM
SNAPSHOT only one snapshot is working. If any body knows the reason cloud
you please share the knowledge.
And is there any possibility to work both snapshots at a time, changing the
backed scripts if any one knows please share the procedure.
Regards,

Venkatesh,
These restrictions were added to avoid VM corruption issues. PR https://github.com/apache/cloudstack/pull/672 relaxes this limitation. You can help in testing this PR.

Correction:
In 4.5 limitation is one snapshot per VM if you try to execute multiple
snapshot on same vm it will fail. Snapshot on different vm will be
executed in parallel but Backup snapshot will always be in sequence .

Hi Koti,
With the current functionality, it's not possible to have volume snapshots and VM snapshots at the same time.
You can go through the limitations of VM snapshots here http://docs.cloudstack.apache.org/projects/cloudstack-administration/en/4.8/virtual_machines.html#virtual-machine-snapshots .
Thanks and regards,
Abhinav

Hi Prashant,
Thank you for your quick reply.
We are using cloudstack version 4.7.1 and hypervisor xenserver 6.2
*My requirement is :*
We have scheduled ( Recurring snapshot policy ) volume snapshot in daily based but due to some reasons i want take VM snapshot.
*We are getting the below error:*
*VM snapshot for this * *VM is not allowed. This VM has volumes attached has snapshots, please remove all snapshots before taking VM snapshot.*
My requirement is VM snapshot and volume snapshot should work both at a time.
If there is any possibility do we need to change in GLOBAL PARAMETER?

Only one snapshot is working ? Are you taking about the situation when you
try to create both parallely .In 4.5 limitation is one snapshot per host ,
other snapshot on same will be scheduled and execute in sequentially. But
in vmware you should be able to take parallel snapshot I am assuming you
have already set global setting accordingly .
