I wasted quite a bit of time over the last day or so debugging what turned out to be a trivial error.

A bug in my code meant that my password callback handler was not actually setting the password. ws-security-stax reported this fact to me with the error message "General security error", which wasn't particularly helpful. A little bit of extra information in this error message would have saved me an hour or so chasing red herrings - eg "no password provided"
