Preparing next releases

Hi all,

I think that it's time to prepare new ServiceMix releases:
- ServiceMix 3.4 using ServiceMix Components 2011.02, CXF 2.4.0, Camel
2.7.1, ActiveMQ 5.5.0, Spring 3.0.5.RELEASE, ServiceMix Utils 1.5.0
- ServiceMix 4.4 using Karaf 2.2.1, ServiceMix Components 2011.02,
ServiceMix Specs 1.8.0, ServiceMix Utils 1.5.0, CXF 2.4.0, Camel 2.7.1,
ActiveMQ 5.5.0

It means that we need also to release:
- ServiceMix Components 2011.02
- ServiceMix Utils 1.5.0

For utils, I will review Jira but I think that I will be able to cut off
the release tonight.
For components, we have a set of Jira to include in this release. If you
could review some Jira and assign to you, it will be much appreciated.

Once utils and components releases will be out, I will release
ServiceMix 3.4.

For ServiceMix 4.4, we have to work on the documentation and website.

I'm going to assign some documentation Jira to me but any help is
welcome. The two main topics are:
- work on the scalate documentation to provide complete user and
developer guides
- work on the website to reference the guides

It's a very very important work and before releasing, we really have to
work on that.
So any help is welcome ;)

Thanks
Regards
JB

Absolutely,

it's part of my last chapter concerning website and documentation work.

May I suggest that for ServiceMix 4.4, we spend much more time to
document on ServiceMix web site about new features, improvements,
issues solved to provide a clear and strong message to Apache, IT
communities that ServiceMix is not death, will be there for a long
time ago and continues to innovate .....

Hi Daniele,

it depends of the exact source of the issue. As I said on IRC, I'm
working on this issue, I will give you an update today.

Depending of what I find, we will see if it makes sense to release a
4.3.1 version.

Thanks

Could be a valid solution release a minor release 4.3.1 with bug fix
about blueprint camel-jbi component and other bug fix?

It sounds good to me.

It just means that we have to wait for Camel 2.8.0. It gives us time to
work on the documentation :)
In that case, I'm gonna upgrade to use Camel 2.8-SNAPSHOT in ServiceMix
projects.

Jean-Baptiste,

We should probably go for Camel 2.8.0 instead for both ServiceMix 3.4
and 4.4 -- that way, we can get the latest version of CXF, Camel and
ActiveMQ shipped to our users in one release.

Re: Preparing next releases

Hi all,

We have an issue in ServiceMix Components 2011.02-SNAPSHOT.

Currently, components use Camel 2.7.1 and CXF 2.4.0, where we can have
issue as in ServiceMix 4, both CXF 2.3.3 (required by Camel 2.7.1) and
CXF 2.4.0 will be installed.

I propose to downgrade components 2011.02-SNAPSHOT to use CXF 2.3.3.

WDYT ?

Hi,

Camel 2.7.1 doesn't support CXF 2.4.0, you may need to wait for the
Camel 2.8.0 release.
BTW, current ServiceMix is using Camel 2.8-SNAPSHOT.

Regards
JB

For ServiceMix 4.4, I would like to finish a modification on camel nmr
component to allow to use it in fully synchronous + update camel nmr
doc (testing, ...). I will raise a ticket and work on that tomorrow
and thursday.

Is it ok for you ?

Regards,

Charles
