Running an action despite validation errors - solution

Some of you may have seen my posts recently asking about how I can run
actions despite validation errors while not losing values in my data
tables. After trying several approaches, I finally found a solution by
creating a custom component.

Thinking that others may need to do something similar at one time or
another, I posted my research and solution on my blog.
