[jira] Commented: (INFRA-2188) Download from archive.apache.org web site fails

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-2188?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=12744043#action_12744043 ]

Sebb commented on INFRA-2188:
-----------------------------

Do both IE and Firefox erroneously report download complete? Or just Firefox? What about Opera?

There is an outstanding Firefox bug which may be relevant:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=237623

BTW, wget also supports retries, and I've used it in the past when Firefox failed.

> When trying to download artifacts from archive.apache.org, nearly every download fails before downloading the whole artifact. I have been experiencing the same problem for multiple artifacts. Jetspeed2, Axis2, ActiveMQ all failed to be downloaded (I tried more than one versions of these artifacts, each failed).
> Finally, I succeeded downloading the artifacts using a commercial download manager which supports recovery of the failed downloads.
> Download starts ok, but when 4-5MB of the artifact is downloaded, download completes with no errors (Download complete state) with a partial archive file which I cannot open (archive corrupted).
