IDE could offer option of how to show a file is changed and not saved yet in the editor tab. The current behaviour is to mark the file name in bold. The options could include the current one (as default) and do nothing. Other options could be considered as a * or something.
It was request during the auto save option development [https://github.com/apache/netbeans/pull/2119#issuecomment-647133781]
