I have committed this to CVS (along with your update as well).
Thanks!  I have managed to only give it a long enough glance
to see if it breaks nothing and if it works ok.  Primary motive
was to get this new feature in so that we can tackle bugs, if any,
or refinements in the beta branch.  Will you please take a look to
see if everything looks ok to you?

It looks just fine to me. I've also run the tests against a newly checked 
out copy, and it all still works.
