Tuscany website content updates

Hi,
Can we update the page
http://incubator.apache.org/tuscany/userguidejava.html with information for
the "Your First Tuscany Application" and "FAQ". These sections have been
empty for a while now. To start with we could point to the pdf on
Simplified Big Bank application on the 'documenation' page
http://incubator.apache.org/tuscany/documentation.html. For trouble
shooting we could divide the FAQ into sections, one of which can deal with
TroubleShooting and then just keep updating the FAQ.

If this sounds ok to everybody let me know how I could update these pages
and I can do so.

+1 for FAQ on the wiki. I raised a few JIRAs on potential FAQ entries that I
could add directy if it were there.

Hi Venkata,
InstallJava and projectJava pages were created with two different audience
in mind.
The assumption was that a person exploring Java SCA section (under which is
installation)
is a user who does not necessary want to get involved in development but
wants to download
the binaries and use SCA. This page needs to be updated with distribution
information once we have
M1 release in place.

On the other hand, project java page was created for developers. It helps
them setup their development environment and run samples.

Maybe this flow is not working and should be fixed.

You can find all existing website JIRA issues under website category. Please
go ahead and create JIRAs with your suggestions and provide fixes if you
can. Help is very welcomed :)

I am also thinking that FAQ should be moved to Wiki and website should be
linked to it. This way anyone can post their questions and answers. As is,
only committers can update the website and one needs to go through patch
submission to update FAQ. What does everyone think?

Re: Tuscany website content updates

Hi
A couple of others that I opine should be ironed out...

1) There is a discussion thread on JIRA-438 that quotes
http://incubator.apache.org/tuscany/projectjava.html for installation
instructions etc. Now there is another page
http://incubator.apache.org/tuscany/installjava.html that contains a subset
of the what you might find in
http://incubator.apache.org/tuscany/projectjava.html. I found the contents
of http://incubator.apache.org/tuscany/projectjava.htm more clean and
complete and should probably be the only one.

2) In http://incubator.apache.org/tuscany/projectjava.html there is a
section that talks about downloading and building tuscany. This build, in
my opinion also includes building the samples. Now following this section
is another section titled "Running the Samples' where in one is asked to go
to the distribution directory and build. Is this required if I have already
built from the root?

Is there a JIRA where we are tracking down 'things to do' with respect to

I think these are good suggestions. Having an FAQ that is updated
frequently based on real user questions on common "newbie" issues
would be a great help in enabling new users to overcome initial
obstacles to using Tuscany.

The BigBank pdf document does a good job of describing the code
and other source artifacts. Since it is a generic SCA document,
it does not say anything about how to build, deploy and run the
BigBank application in the Tuscany environment. As well as
pointing to this document, it might be helpful to go slightly
beyond this by also including some Tuscany-specific "how to"
information.
