Packet is larger than max_allowed_packet error
The JAMES FAQ tells me that I need to increase my max packet size to
prevent this error but I can't find this parameter in the
configuration files.

It's a MySQL configuration: you should add it in /etc/my.cnf (for unix
machines) or my.ini / mysql.ini in the windows folder (on windows machines).
