I had problems cherry picking this into the 7.0.x branch (hash bdc959056ac59bf0e4b1f210c87d8d072dcfd61b and db27c4a0b21c21c14997fdd4e310dbd8ec9ddd04).  If you would like to get this into the 7.0.0 release please make a github pull request for the 7.0.x branch.
