permission to open password file
hi all
i using kernel 2.4.18-pre1, with reiserfs
apache-1.3.22
i trying to use access control, but it shows errorrs than can't open password
file
the password file is in there.
[Fri Dec 28 23:04:27 2001] [error] [client 203.201.2.121] (13)Permission denied:
Could not open password file: /usr/local/httpd/passwd/password
[root@www :httpd]# =>cd passwd/
[root@www :passwd]# =>pwd
/usr/local/httpd/passwd
[root@www :passwd]# =>ls -al
total 9
drwxrwx--- 2 nobody nogroup 96 Dec 28 21:17 .
drwxrwx--- 13 root root 312 Dec 28 21:14 ..
-rw-rw---- 1 nobody nogroup 14 Dec 28 21:17 groups
-rwxr----- 1 nobody nogroup 20 Dec 28 21:15 password
has anybody got this problem before ?
is this the problem with apache or reiserfs ?

This indicatest that the web server user can't even get into
/usr/local/httpd, so the permissions on directories below that are
irrelevant. You need to give at least search permission (+x) to all parent
directories.
