I hope that this response from Roy addresses Benson's original concerns about
the scope of the advice we should offer about binaries.
I have added back a section on binaries, modified to incorporate some of Roy's
language; I hope that the restoration satisfies Ate, at least to the extent
that he will not object to the document's publication.
The specificity of the advice in the restored passage has also been dialed
back, in keeping with Roy's answer.
