I am not fully sure of what happened, but since we integrated the SMTP Sampler
the Mail Reader Sampler is not able anymore to connect to our test server (this
worked before). Maybe the geronimo mail library allowed the connection with any
server...
I got the following error message:
Response code: 500
Response message: javax.mail.MessagingException: Connect failed;
nested exception is:
javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException:
sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed:
sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find
valid certification path to requested target
Looks to me like now I have to add the server certificate to the default
truststore. Somehow this was not the case before.
To work around this problem I have created a patch discussed in bug49603

Since now we have the security settings panel in the Mail Reader Sampler (see
bug 49603), do we still need this bug?
With the new functionality I connect without any problems.

I haven't tested with an older version to see if it still works. I can do this
but only next week as I am a bit flooded with work.

Not that I am aware of

I did change the jar files as discussed in bug 45053.

Which version worked OK?
Have you double-checked that the previous version still works with your test
server? And did you have to change any properties in the previous version?
Also, are you using the same JavaMail versions with 2.4 and the version that
worked?
