[users@httpd] Stray processes
Dear List, first time on here so hope I don't offend folk with a possibly
repeated question.
We get a lot of stray and never vanishing apache processes appearing (see
bottom of message). We run Oracle 9iAS and have about 3 major java web
applications (and some small ones) running off it, as well as lots of static
pages.
Questions.
1. Why do these processes appear (I can find no correlation with the access
or error log entries to suggest something is triggering them)?
2. Why do so many appear in a batch? e.g. Ten at 16:43, nine at 13:30.....
Hope that someone can shed some light, and a possible solution. At the
moment we restart each morning at 5:30 to get rid of them.
