Fwd: svn commit: r860135 - in /websites/production/maven/content/surefire:
./ css/ images/ js/ maven-failsafe-plugin/ maven-failsafe-plugin/apidocs/
maven-failsafe-plugin/apidocs/org/apache/maven/plugin/failsafe/ maven-failsafe-plugin/apidocs/org/apache/mav...
Hi everyone,
I just tried myself on re-deploying the surefire site, as the documentation
for the failsafe-plugin was in large parts missing.
But now the navigation bar on top is missing (that one that read: Apache /
Maven / Surefire / ...below the feather logo, where the "Last Published"
text is now).
Any idea how we can get that back?
Thanks,
Andreas

yeah, nice to hear: we added a lot of ITs to m-site-p to improve quality, and
this one surprised me a lot.
I'm glad I won't have to work once again on the topic :)

Ha, found it. The site plugin is working correctly, but I happened to have
some zero-byte *site.xml files in my local repo. No idea how it got there,
but after cleaning up, the correct ones were fetched from central and
everything was fine again.

If you can create a simple IT, yes, a bug-report can be useful
did you try to checkout maven/trunks?
AFAIK, I never had any issues since I did that

Hi Hervé,
I would have expected it that way too, but: when un-setting the relative
path to the parent with <relativePath />, the site.xml from there is still
not pulled in.
Should I open up a bug-report?

uh, strange, and not scalable: you can't checkout the right version for each
component.
I'd expect versioned pom parents and corresponding site.xml to be downloaded,
and not used by such relativePath in pom
FYI, you can checkout the whole svn well organized from
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/maven/trunks/ (which contains externals)
that's what I do on my machine, and I never had the problem you're facing:
versioned poms and site.xml are downloaded when necessary. Perhaps it is
triggered by the relativePath pointing to another parent pom version
but the doc requiring versioned parent pom checkout from tags isn't really the
solution

Hervé

Well, to anyone who's interested:
the problem was that I had to check out the tags of the used versions in
the parent-pom hierarchy to ../pom/maven and ../pom/asf.
I've updated the site-deployment section in the README.TXT of surefire
accordingly.
