[jira] [Commented] (MATH-1227) Add an name String ivar to SummaryStatistics

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MATH-1227?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=14555166#comment-14555166 ]

Gilles commented on MATH-1227:
------------------------------

A priori, I don't think that it is a good idea to have an identifier inside CM classes: the same request could soon apply to many other objects...
(IIUC) Can't you store the bunch in a {{Map<String, SummaryStatistics>}}?
But maybe there is some reason I can't figure out. Could you give more details about the use cases, so that we can consider what alternatives would provide the needed functionality?

> I have a bunch of {{SummaryStatistics}} that I'd like to {{toString()}} in a report. Adding a String name ivar would let me name each {{SummaryStatistics}} object.
