Avro or Protobuf Files

Is there a time line for Avro file types to be supported without Hive? What
about using drill on protobuf files?

There was already a patch submitted for Avro files (DRILL-1512), which I
was going to review but forgot about. I will look into that this week.

I don't know if anyone has done any work on a protobuf reader, but it's
something that has been discussed.
