[~janl] owner is a cloudant semi-feature that helps to denote group of databases per user. So, if you'll have db named: "jan/mailbox" then owner will be jan - the first part before slash. In the same way you may have own _users and _replicator databases: jan/_users, jan/_replicator.
However, we don't apply any security enhancements for such layout. So far iirc only global_changes operates with owner thing.
