p4sync question
Hi,
I'm setting up a build system on a server. I've created a dedicated
Perforce user account to perform builds and placed it in a group that
will allow it to be permanently logged in with no timeout. I need my
Ant scripts to rely on the Perforce ticket to perform any Perforce
related tasks.
I'm using the <p4sync> task as follows:
<p4sync
port="myserver:1666"
user="myuser"
client="myclient"
view="//depot/my/path/..."
force="true"
/>
I have also set the following Perforce variables using "p4 set" both for
the user and for the system using '-s':
P4CLIENT=myuser
P4PORT=myserver:1666
P4TICKETS=C:\Program Files\CruiseControl\p4tickets.txt
P4USER=agilebuild
All of these values have been verified (I've even debugged the Ant
script directly in Eclipse).
But I am continually getting the following error:
[p4sync] error: Perforce password (P4PASSWD) invalid or unset.
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance,

I have a path that I'd like to output to the console.
For example:
<path id="my.path.id">
<pathelement location="${a.path}"/>
<pathelement location="${another.path}"/>
</path>
If I do this:
<echo message="${my.path.id}" />
I get this:
[echo] ${my.path.id}
*/
when i need to echo path id's i always use ${toString: ...}, i.e =
<project name="bla" default="main" basedir=".">
<target name="depends">
<path id="my.path.id">
<pathelement location="c:/jruby-0.9.8/lib/jruby.jar" />
<pathelement location="c:/PSPad editor/PSPad.exe" />
</path>
</target>
<target name="main" depends="depends">
<echo message="${toString:my.path.id}" />
</target>
</project>
and you get :
depends:
main:
[echo] C:\jruby-0.9.8\lib\jruby.jar;C:\PSPad editor\PSPad.exe
BUILD SUCCESSFUL
The use of ${toString: ...} is not documented and not recommended
by the ant authorities as far as i remember.
That said, i use it very often without any problems til now.

Look at the pathconvert task.

Re: How to echo path?
Posted by Matt Benson <gu...@yahoo.com>.
The recommended way to do this uses the <pathconvert>
task. In Ant 1.6.5:
<pathconvert refid="my.path.id" property="my.path" />
<echo>$${my.path}=${my.path}</echo>
In Ant 1.7:
<pathconvert refid="my.path.id" />
You're welcome. ;)
-Matt
P.S. You -could- also use
<echo>${toString:my.path.id}</echo>
But that's technically unsupported.

How to echo path?
Posted by Douglas McCarroll <li...@brightworks.com>.
Hi all,
I have a path that I'd like to output to the console.
For example:
<path id="my.path.id">
<pathelement location="${a.path}"/>
<pathelement location="${another.path}"/>
</path>
If I do this:
<echo message="${my.path.id}" />
I get this:
[echo] ${my.path.id}
I assume that the problem here is that I'm trying to treat an id as
though it is a property, and it's not.
If you wanted to output the paths for debugging, what would you do?
TIA!

Never mind regarding this issue. I resolved the problem myself (some
property values, like the user name, had unwanted trailing spaces).
Thanks.
