J2EEStore2 and mySQL

I tried to get the J2EEStore2 working with mySQL and found out that
The new code requires nested select statements to function properly.
>From what I have read mySQL does not support nested select statements until
Version 4, which is out, but "not ready for production boxes."  See raging
