We just found out that a Jenkins postcommit build has been failing with Aborted status for 11 days because it was OOMing, but it was not sending emails.

It looks like emails are only sent on unstable builds -- the info tooltip for "E-mail Notifications" says:

> This plug-in is not invoked for failed builds, it is only called for stable or unstable builds (i.e., a build with failed tests).

However it looks like there may be a way to enable emails on Jenkins even for aborted builds: https://issues.jenkins-ci.org/browse/JENKINS-10990

[~pono] says on hipchat that we are using that plugin and a relatively new version of it... so maybe there is a way to enable this that I am not seeing?
